Max (Vincent Cassel, La Haine, Irreversible) is a former playboy who decides to settle down and marry his current lover, the sister of his boss. However, during a business trip in Paris, Max catches a glimpse of the great lost love of his life, Lisa (Monica Bellucci, Irreversible, The Matrix Revolutions). Obsessed with meeting Lisa, he finds out where she lives and hides in the apartment. However, when a different girl, Alice (Romane Bohringer), finds Max in the flat her resemblance to Lisa leads them to becoming romantically entwined.
Still determined to meet Lisa, Max finds out that she has a lover, and that her lover's wife has recently died in suspicious circumstances. Gradually Max is drawn into the mystery, which ultimately he hopes will lead him closer to Lisa.....
Switching between time, women, chic cafes and beautiful Parisian apartments, director Gilles Mimouni's first film is a stylish suspense thriller. With many nods to Alfred Hitchcock, L'Appartement confounds the audience with an extraordinary and elusive mystery as it races to its heady conclusion.
